When it comes to setting aside time to do something special and memorable with our family, much too often we find every excuse to put it off. Either your hair needs to get fixed, or you don't have anything to wear. Dad is often too busy or just to tired. The kids all need something special to get them excited or in the mood to come together as a family for an hour.
The truth is setting aside time is just that. Setting time. It's like the alarm clock get up, to leave for work or go to school. You are in control of that time. So do it. Take charge and BOOK THE DATE. once you set the clock, everyone has to follow...
It may seem like a trivial thing, "Taking Family Portraits". But here are Three reasons why you would want to set time aside to get your family together and have a Professional Portrait Session planned and captured..
Documenting the growth of your kids is important. Time is not reversible and in an instant memories fade and are forgotten. Capturing moments on your phones or smart devices are good, but having a hangable piece of art that defines your family's value is truly invaluable…
As the Bible says, “Time and unforeseen occurrences befalls us all. When we think of that statement we tend to think of our aged parent and grand parents, but we forget that death and circumstance has no prejudice. It’s never too late to do something meaningful until it is too late.
The third reason is the best of all. Reliving moments or holding a tangible piece of history. Have you ever went to a chest of old photos, held one in your hand and have a thousand memories flash back, as if it was yesterday? Or even better, held an original photo of your grand or great grand parents and thought, over 100 years ago, they actually held this exact image and felt what I am feeling right now? I love digital, but it doesn’t truly do an image the same justice as does that of the physical touch of a photograph. The digital world is so quick, you never truly get the chance to savour the moments and relive the memory of a captured time, or exist in the same space as it’s predecessors. There is just something about the feel and smell of a physical picture in hand that digital images will have to catch-up with.
There is a reason why timeless painting by artists such as Rembrandt, Andy Warhol, van Gogh, Picasso and our own Eddie Minnis to name a few, artworks sell for astonishing amounts of money. They didn't take a picture, they perfected an Art and captured the true essence of a person, place or object in time and displayed it to the world in a way that only they could and that would be considered beyond ordinary. They brought "Art" to what would have been considered normal.
Today everyone has a camera, so naturally everyone thinks they have no need for the photographer, but with that said everyone can buy a pencil, a few brushes and some paint, but to be an artist, a photographer, a true photographer you need much more than to tools. You need vision, skills, farsight, and the ability to coach the average person to be as comfortable in front of the stranger behind the camera as possible while virtually pulling and pushing them to bring out the best them they have ever seen on print.
This is what we strive to do with each client.
